Malaysia 1996

In February 1996 I visited Krau Wildlife Reserve, Kuala Lompat, Malaysia with Tom Kunz to work with Tigga Kingston on the insectivorous bats there. The first walk into the rainforest resulted in a big leech attack - wellies sprayed with repellent solved the problem.

and we caught a nocturnal flying squirrel in a canopy mist-net set for bats. It is a pygmy flying squirrel Petaurillus kinlochii (or lumped with hosei, depending on whose taxonomy you follow). I've not seen a photo of one elsewhere.
