Cyprus 2009
One evening 22 squacco herons roosted at the mouth of the Ezousa river.
On our penultimate day I cycled to Mandria fields, not really knowing where I was going, to see a Cyprus rarity - a Caspian plover. I got lost on the way back, and pushed my bike along a stony beach alongside the airport perimeter fence.
