10th: St Ives, The Island: 1 Dark-bellied brent goose, 3 red-throated diver, 1 black-throated diver, 7 great northern diver, grey heron, 2 raven.
Marazion: an adult Slavonian grebe was close offshore.
I spent some time looking for a water pipit. Initially, I photographed rock pipits.
The water pipit stood out on Little London Beach. It behaved differently from the rock pipits, perching up a lot. It had white underparts, and the white outer tail feathers stood out. Three black redstarts there too.
9th: The Island, St Ives: 4 common scoter, 4 red-throated diver, 4 black-throated diver, 8 great northern diver, 1 raven, 2 chough. The chough landed very close to me, and one can be seen swallowing a leatherjacket. Black redstart (female-type) Smeaton’s Pier. Herring gull W916 was on The Wharf.
