I heard a whimbrel and saw a hobby, the female scaup, a male goldeneye, and my first swifts of the year. 3rd. Slimbridge. First-summer little gull, two first-summer Mediterranean gulls, a green sandpiper, breeding avocets and up to 12 common cranes from the Great Crane Project. A hobby and a peregrine over Flax Bourton too. 2nd. Chew Valley Lake - female greater scaup consorting with a male tufted duck to produce the next generation of Aythya hybrids, and a hobby. |
