20th-22nd. Lyme Regis. Sandwich terns moving offshore. A walk along the Undercliff between Axmouth and Lyme Regis produced a singing lesser spotted woodpecker, lots of blackcaps, a peregrine, a slow worm, orange tips and a holly blue. 15th. Garden warbler, Painswick Rococo Gardens. 14th. 3 greater scaup (2 drakes) Chew Valley Lake. Displaying great crested grebes too. 8th. Barrow tanks. The drake long-tailed duck is still present, now moulting into summer plumage. Also blackcaps, sand martins, 2 house martins, 3 common sandpipers and little egret. Little egret at the pond on the road through Barrow Gurney too. 7th. First swallows of the year at Chew Valley Lake. Willow warbler singing too. |
