24th. Forest of Dean. There is a tame wild boar at the car park NE of Speech House. It is being fed by visitors. The great grey shrike was on Crabtree Hill, and a hawfinch flew over. Other birds included hawfinch and dipper at Parkend, mandarins on Cannop Ponds, though no goshawks seen from New Fancy. 19th. Barn owl along the Long Ashton bypass, near the new link road roundabout. 18th. Peregrine on a nest in Bristol, arrived with a second bird. 17th. Florie put up 2 jack snipe in a soggy field near Watercress Farm. 16th. Ham Wall. An impressive starling murmuration. Many birds landed in a tree-line for a short while, before descending into the reed bed. 12th. Marshfield - at least 30 corn buntings, yellowhammer, 200+ linnets, 5 stock doves, at least 2 ravens, 2 stonechat, about 10 red-legged partridges and nice flocks of fieldfares. 3rd - Slimbridge.
