29th. Shapwick Heath - whooper swan, ca. 20 lesser redpolls, siskin, about 5 marsh harriers and a bittern.

27th. Chiffchaff calling frequently on a cold, misty autumnal morning in Bishopston.

22nd. Forest of Dean. Great grey shrike at Crabtree Hill, goshawks over Cannop Ponds and Parkend, tree creeper at Parkend.

15th. Apex Park, Burnham-on-Sea, Juveniles of tundra bean goose and white-fronted goose (2) at the lake, feeding on corn and associating with the greylag flock. I forgot to take my DSLR, but needn't have worried! Photos taken with the iPhone.

14th. Marshfield. Four corn buntings.

9th. Jay from the office window.

8th. A very confiding snow bunting at New Passage, and the long-tailed duck is back at Barrow Tanks.
