ca. 29th. Underwing detail from a comma in the Bristol garden. 17th. More of the friendly Island kestrel. 16th. After failed attempts at Sennen (twice) and St Just, I eventually caught up with a rosy starling at Lizard. The small rocky islands near the horizon off Lizard Point below are the Man o'war gneiss, the oldest rock in south west England, a metamorphosed granite from the southern supercontinent of Gondwana dating to 500 Ma.
Rabbit ca.15th. Ocean sunfish and harbour porpoise from the Island. The local male kestrel is catching lots of field voles at present, and gave stunning views today. 14th. Drift Reservoir - osprey fishing. Then I ebiked back from Lands End along the coast road. Bosigran Farm, near Carn Galver: 2 yellowhammer. 11th - Balearic shearwater moving E off Island with Manxies. Second summer Mediterranean gull too. Blue W195 is a regular around the harbour. It was ringed in St Ives in 2015. 7th. We walked from Porthcurno to Porthgwarra and back, getting lost on the way. 15 grey seals near Gwennap Head, and 2 chough in the area. 5th and 10th. Peregrines over St Ives. Peregrine seen twice through Sennen on 5th.
