24th. A walk on the Blorenge with Hetty and Florie.

21st - back to the Forest of Dean with Jeff and Jo. Nuthatch, siskin and crossbill at Parkend, and a goshawk overhead. Merlin at Aust on the way back, silhouetted in the sunset.

10th. Slimbridge, with my friend from the Great Victoria Desert, Jeff Turpin. Photos of cranes (including an unringed bird), pintail and a jackdaw with a pronounced neck collar typical of Nordic birds. The Bewick's swan is bearing a GPS collar.

3rd. Forest of Dean with Harry Mac and Jenny. Jay and mandarins. We had glimpses of a hawfinch, and saw a dipper at Parkend.

1st-2nd. there was a heavy snowfall in Bristol at the start of February. I did the RSPB Garden Birdwatch in Bishopston and saw fieldfare and blackcap. Lots of goldfinches around now too.
