31st. We walked along the Frome valley between Frenchay and Winterbourne Down and saw a kingfisher. 25th. Chew Valley Lake: caught up with the lesser yellowlegs at last. Also a spotted redshank, 3 little stint, 6 goosander and a yellow-legged gull. 22nd. Lots of swallows moving through Wedmore. 17th. Chew Valley Lake: 2 siskin, 3 goldeneye, 3 dunlin, grey plover and 3 little stint, including a grey (adult?) bird. 11th. We walked over Dolebury Warren from Winscombe. European hornets feeding on sap at Winscombe. 10th. Cheddar reservoir - red-crested pochard and red-necked grebe both in close. the grebe was getting a lot of hassle from great-crested grebes and coots. Great white egret at Westhay. peregrine and 2 stonechat here too.
